Official Launch Of SPPDA

Launch of Saint John Paul II Sub Parish Development Association (SPPADA) by officials

On Saturday, 11th May, a new chapter began in the spiritual and developmental journey of the Catholic faithful of Saint John Paul II Sub Parish with the official launch of the Saint John Paul Sub Parish Development Association (SPPADA). The memorable event took place at Abba hotel, bringing together Christians, clergy, and community leaders to witness the birth of this promising association.

The launch of Saint John Paul II Sub Parish Development Association marked not only the formation of a new group but the beginning of a shared vision — to build a stronger, faith-filled, and self-reliant community. With God’s guidance and the intercession of Saint John Paul II, the association looks forward to growing in strength and service.

The welcome remarks were given by the coordinator of SPAADA, Mrs.Okurut Jackie who thanked people for honoring the invitation and turning up for the launch. She called everyone to action and to be part of the team, work together to grow the association. The coordinator also encouraged members to sign up and register by paying Ugx 50,000 for membership and Ugx 20,000 for subscription per month

The launch was presided over by the Sabakristu, Mrs. Winnie Bainomugisha Nakato who commended the initiative and encouraged members to remain united in faith, purpose, and service. She emphasized the importance of community development that is rooted in the values of the Catholic Church, inspired by the life and teachings of Saint John Paul II, the patron of the association.

The ceremony included speeches from the vision bearer, Mr. Justus Orishaba Bagamuhunda who encouraged the members of the sub parish to join SPPADA and also emphasized that the main objective of the association is to promote the spiritual, moral and material welfare of the members. He emphasized that the association will not limit the category of people that should join, it will be open to different people for different ideas but with a tolerance. He also highlighted 5 principles below;

  • Spiritual empowerment: Follow the ideas based on our faith and our Patron Saint to move the association forward
  • Economic empowerment: how to grow what we have and what we can do to create more income from different activities. Different projects that will bring in income to grow the church at large for example how Centenary Bank rents the church building in Ntinda which gives the church income.
  • Education: share experiences about the different schools to take children, how to apply and where to apply for scholarships or even bursaries to children that are less privileged.
  • Community: what we are doing to help the less privileged amongst us. Suggestion for putting people in charge of the different areas for the community like spiritual, economic, education and community for easier mobilization and vetting of the those who really need assistance.
  • Family: helping and looking out for each other right from our own homes first.
  • Encouraged the association to welcome invitations from any other associations to benchmark what others are doing.

The association’s executive committee members were also introduced to the audience and were encouraged to promote the association. Members were urged to commit to both spiritual growth and socio-economic empowerment through projects such as savings groups, charity work, youth mentorship, and support for the vulnerable

The patron of Saint John Paul II, Rev. Fr. Vincent Lubega was represented by the guest speaker, Mr. John Nakedde who thanked everyone that contributed to making the day a success and reaffirmed the group’s mission to promote unity, development, and Catholic values in everyday life. He highlighted plans for future activities and invited more faithful to join the association and be part of the movement.
